Sintex or concrete?

Which tank actually needs cleaning more often in Delhi.

Plastic

Smooth walls, easy clean

Plastic’s non-porous surface gives biofilm nothing to grip, so it scrubs out fast — usually every 6 months is fine.

Concrete

Porous walls hold grime

Concrete’s rough surface traps biofilm and silt, so it needs cleaning more often — every 4–5 months, sooner for sumps.

The catch

Concrete takes longer

Same size, more work — longer scrubbing, a second jet-wash pass and 25–30 minutes of disinfectant contact time.

Lifespan

Plastic 15–20, concrete 30–50

Concrete lasts far longer but the porous walls foul faster; plastic is easy to swap when Delhi summers finally wear it out.

Best of both

Many homes run both

Concrete sump below, plastic tank on top is the Delhi default — we clean all four combinations with the right protocol.
