July – September · Current season
Monsoon & post-monsoon contamination
- Waterborne-disease reports in Delhi track the monsoon; the sharpest deterioration in stored water follows the rains, as runoff and sewer overflow reach shallow groundwater and open tanks.
- KaamGenie’s urgent-callout mix peaks in August–September every year — the single largest seasonal spike we see.
- Borewell-dependent colonies (Uttam Nagar belt, Kirari, Sangam Vihar, outer south-west) are hit hardest: shallow borewells sit closest to contaminated recharge.

May – June
Summer scarcity & storage stress
- Delhi’s ~300 MGD structural supply gap widens in peak summer; tanker dependence rises sharply in outer colonies.
- Households respond by storing more — drums plus tanks — which doubles the surfaces where sediment and algae grow, just as heat accelerates algae in translucent plastic tanks.
- Tanker-fed refills carry visible silt; we see it settle as a distinct layer in tanks across tanker-dependent belts.

December – February
Winter supply disruptions (Yamuna ammonia)
- Ammonia spikes in the Yamuna periodically curtail treatment-plant output in winter, cutting piped supply to large parts of the city with little warning.
- During cuts, households lean on stored water for days — the moment tank hygiene stops being invisible and starts being what the family is actually drinking.
- Winter is also when borewell use quietly rises in affected zones, bringing hard, mineral-heavy water into tanks that normally hold treated supply.
