The 7-point checklist before booking ANY tank cleaner in Delhi
- Police-verified crew with photo ID — sent on WhatsApp before arrival, shown at your gate
- Registered business with GSTIN — printed on every quote and invoice, verifiable on the GST portal
- Food-grade chemicals with MSDS — sodium hypochlorite 5%, not pool chlorine, not industrial bleach
- Before/after photos on WhatsApp — same day, with timestamps, not stock images
- Fixed pricing — no add-ons on arrival — the price you were quoted is the price you pay
- Phone number that picks up after the job — office line, not just one personal number that goes dark
- Confined-space safety gear for sumps — harness, gas meter, standby crew. Non-negotiable
If a vendor cannot tick six of these seven, find another one. The cost of getting it wrong is contaminated drinking water, a fake invoice your accountant can't use, or in the case of sumps, a serious injury.
Why "near me" searches are tricky in Delhi
Type "water tank cleaning near me" into Google from anywhere inside the Ring Road and you'll see twenty business listings, ten ads, and a Maps panel. It looks like choice. In practice, only a handful of those listings are registered businesses with an office, a GSTIN, and accountable crews. The rest fall into one of three categories that are quietly hurting Delhi customers every week.
Listing one — the personal-account contractor. A genuine cleaner who answers his own phone, works alone or with a single helper, and runs the business out of a WhatsApp number. He might do a fine job on the day, but he has no GSTIN, no invoice he can issue legally, no police verification, no insurance, and no second crew to send if he falls sick. Once he is on another job, you cannot reach him.
Listing two — the spam pin. Many "tank cleaning" Maps pins in Delhi were created by listing-spam services. The photos are stock images. The reviews are bought. The phone number routes to a call centre in another city that takes your address and "passes it" to an actual cleaner who may or may not show up. By the time you realise the listing was fake, the address-passer has already taken a 10-20% commission.
Listing three — the lead-aggregator. A few of the top "near me" results are not vendors at all. They are lead-collection sites that take your phone number, sell it to three or four cleaners, and step back. You then get four calls from four people quoting four prices, which is exhausting and offers no real verification of who you're actually hiring.
None of this means local vendors are bad. Many of Delhi's best tank cleaners are small businesses with a few crews. But "near me" by itself does not separate the registered, accountable ones from the rest. You need a checklist.
The 7 verification checks before booking ANY vendor
1. Police-verified crew with photo ID
The person who is going to climb onto your roof or descend into your sump should be someone whose identity you can verify in two clicks. The minimum standard is a laminated photo ID with name, employee code, photograph and the registered business name. The better standard is a WhatsApp message before the visit that includes the crew member's name and photo so you can match the face at the gate. The best standard, which we apply at KaamGenie, is police verification on file at the office that can be shared with society management or commercial clients on request. If a vendor cannot produce ID at the door, you have the right to refuse entry — politely but firmly — and they should not argue.
2. Registered business with GSTIN on every invoice
A GSTIN (Goods and Services Tax Identification Number) is a 15-digit code printed on every invoice from a registered business. It tells you the entity is legally incorporated, has a tax-registered address, and exists on the government's books. Cash-only vendors who refuse GST invoices cannot pass on the tax credit to society accounts, restaurant FSSAI files, office reimbursement claims, or RWA audits. They are also, in many cases, not registered businesses at all. The GST portal lets you verify any GSTIN online in 30 seconds — we'll show you how further down this article. KaamGenie's GSTIN is printed on every quote, every invoice and on the homepage footer.
3. Food-grade chemicals with MSDS available
The disinfectant used inside your drinking-water tank must be food-grade sodium hypochlorite at 5%, used at the correct dose, with the correct contact time. Pool chlorine, industrial bleach and locally-decanted "chlorine" from unlabelled jerrycans are not acceptable substitutes — they leave residues that can irritate skin, damage tank lining over time, and in the case of unlabelled chemicals, occasionally cause health complaints in children and the elderly. Ask the vendor for the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) of their chemical. A registered vendor will have it. An unregistered one will not even know what you are asking for. That answer alone tells you everything.
4. Before/after photos sent via WhatsApp
Photographic documentation has become the cheapest and most powerful form of accountability in this industry. Insist on at least four photos: the tank before opening, the sludge or sediment that was removed, the cleaned interior, and the refilled tank. They should be sent on WhatsApp the same day, with timestamps visible. Stock images don't count — ask for the photo to show your tank, your roof, your address. RWAs and restaurants should request these in writing as a condition of payment. We send before/after photos to every customer as standard.
5. Fixed pricing — no add-ons on arrival
The single most common complaint Delhi customers raise about local vendors is the price shift between phone and arrival. A 500-rupee quote turns into 1,500 rupees once "chlorine charge", "photo charge", "deep clean upgrade" and "GST extra" are added on the spot. Fixed pricing means the rupee figure on your initial quote is exactly the figure on the invoice, with all consumables, photos, chlorine, GST and invoice included. Confirm this verbally on the phone, get it on WhatsApp as a written quote, and check the invoice at the end matches. KaamGenie publishes fair-range pricing publicly and our quotes never include surprise extras.
6. Phone number that picks up later
This sounds basic but it is one of the most predictive checks. Three days after the cleaning, call the vendor's number from a different phone and ask a follow-up question — "the water still smells slightly chlorinated, is that normal?" A registered business with an office line will pick up, recognise the booking, and either reassure you or send someone back. An unregistered single-person vendor who has already moved on to ten other jobs will not answer, will not call back, and you will have lost any leverage to fix problems. The phone test costs nothing and tells you exactly what kind of vendor you've hired.
7. Confined-space safety gear (for sumps)
If your booking includes an underground sump, the vendor must show up with a full-body safety harness, a digital gas meter that reads hydrogen sulfide and oxygen levels, a hard hat, gloves, and crucially a standby crew member whose only job is to stand outside the sump holding the rope. Vendors who descend without this gear are gambling with a crew member's life every time. The deaths happen every year in India, and they happen to the cleanest-looking sumps too — because hydrogen sulfide is invisible and odourless at lethal concentrations. If you see a sump cleaner attempting descent without a harness and a gas meter on his belt, politely cancel the job. A good vendor will respect you for asking.
| # | Check | What to verify | Red flag if missing | KaamGenie answer |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Police-verified crew + photo ID | Laminated ID at gate, name on WhatsApp pre-arrival | "Just trust him, ma'am" | Yes — ID + photo sent pre-arrival |
| 2 | Registered business + GSTIN | 15-digit GSTIN on quote & invoice, verifiable on GST portal | Cash-only, no invoice, no GSTIN | GSTIN on every invoice, footer of homepage |
| 3 | Food-grade chemicals + MSDS | Sodium hypochlorite 5%, MSDS on request | Unlabelled jerrycan, pool chlorine | Food-grade NaOCl 5%, MSDS shared on ask |
| 4 | Before/after photos | Same-day WhatsApp, timestamped, your tank | Stock images or "we don't do photos" | 4-photo standard sent same day |
| 5 | Fixed pricing | Quote = invoice, no on-arrival add-ons | 500 on phone, 1500 on arrival | Fair-range published, no add-ons |
| 6 | Phone picks up later | Office line answered 3 days after job | Number goes silent post-cleaning | +91 95603 66362, office hours |
| 7 | Confined-space safety (sumps) | Harness, gas meter, standby crew | Descent without harness or meter | Full 5-piece kit standard for sumps |
Want all 7 checks ticked without doing the homework?
We run a registered business with police-verified crews, GST invoices, food-grade chemicals, WhatsApp photos and confined-space safety gear as standard. One booking, all seven boxes ticked.
Red flags that should send you to another vendor
A surprising number of bad-vendor situations have warning signs in the first 60 seconds of the phone call. Once you've heard the patterns once, you'll recognise them in any future enquiry. Here is the field-tested list, organised by which stage of the interaction the red flag appears in.
| Phase | Red flag | What it actually means | What to do |
|---|---|---|---|
| Phone call | "Price depends on what we see" | Setup for on-arrival upcharging | Insist on a fixed quote in writing before they leave |
| Phone call | Refuses to share GSTIN or business name | Likely unregistered individual | Ask once more, then move on |
| Phone call | Quoted under 500 rupees | Either fake quote or skipped chlorine | Decline politely |
| WhatsApp confirmation | No written quote, just "you tell address" | No audit trail when price changes | Ask for the quote in text |
| Arrival | No photo ID, no business shirt | Subcontracted at last minute | Polite refusal, call vendor |
| Arrival | Mentions "extras" not in quote | Bait-and-switch pricing | Cancel, document on WhatsApp |
| Service | No harness or gas meter for sump | Vendor cutting safety corners | Stop the job immediately |
| Service | Unlabelled chemicals | Industrial bleach or pool chlorine | Refuse use, request food-grade |
| Invoice | No GSTIN printed | Unregistered, no tax credit possible | Don't pay until corrected |
| Invoice | Different name than booking | Subcontracted, accountability lost | Request invoice from original vendor |
| Post-service | Phone goes unanswered for 3 days | Vendor has moved on; no recourse | Note for future — don't rebook |
None of these red flags is a death sentence on its own, but two or three together means you should walk away. The good news is that the inverse also holds — a vendor who handles every one of these stages cleanly almost always does the actual cleaning well too. Process discipline correlates strongly with technical competence in this industry.
How to verify GSTIN in 30 seconds online
The GST portal verification is the single highest-leverage check on this whole list, because it tells you in 30 seconds whether the entity you are about to pay is a registered business at all. Here is the exact process:
- Open the portal. Visit services.gst.gov.in/services/searchtp in any browser. No login is required for the basic search.
- Enter the 15-digit GSTIN. Copy it from the vendor's quote, invoice, WhatsApp message or business card. The format is two digits + ten characters + Z + one character.
- Solve the captcha. A simple text or image captcha appears. Type the characters as shown and press Search.
- Read the result. The portal returns the registered legal name, the state of registration, the date the GSTIN was issued, the type of taxpayer (Regular, Composition, etc.) and the current status. The status field is the one that matters most.
- Check the status field. "Active" means the business is currently registered and in good standing. "Cancelled" or "Suspended" means you should not be paying them. "Not Found" means the GSTIN they gave you is fake.
- Match the name. Verify that the legal name returned matches the name on the vendor's invoice or quote. A mismatch — for example, the GSTIN belongs to a different entity entirely — is a serious red flag.
The check takes 30 seconds and costs nothing. Do it before you make payment, not after. KaamGenie's GSTIN is registered to KaamGenie Private Limited — CIN U74909DL2026PTC466750 — and you can verify it any time on the GST portal using the steps above. If you cannot find the GSTIN on the vendor's quote, ask. If they cannot give it to you, that's your answer.
What "near me" actually means in Delhi NCR
Google interprets "near me" by triangulating your phone's GPS and dropping listings within roughly 5-10 kilometres. In a city as logistically complex as Delhi NCR, that radius can mean very different things depending on where you are. From central Delhi, a 10-kilometre radius covers most of South and West Delhi — but it doesn't include Gurgaon, Noida or Faridabad. From Gurgaon, "near me" might pull listings that are physically closer but separated by a toll plaza and an hour of traffic.
The practical question to ask any vendor is not "are you near me" but "do you regularly serve my pincode." A vendor based in Khanpur but running daily routes through Vasant Kunj, Hauz Khas and Saket effectively covers all of South Delhi within an hour. A vendor based 3 kilometres away but only operating in their own colony is closer on the map but more limited in practice.
For Delhi NCR, the realistic service map looks like this. Inner Delhi (within Ring Road) is the easiest — most established vendors cover all of it. North-West Delhi, outer East, and outer South are next, served by vendors with daily routes through those zones. Gurgaon and Noida are typically served by specialist vendors based in those cities, with a few Delhi-based companies (us included) covering the major sectors. Faridabad and Ghaziabad are case-by-case.

Real Delhi customer verification stories
Three real patterns we see repeatedly across bookings, anonymised but otherwise unchanged.
The Defence Colony society treasurer who verified properly. An RWA treasurer of a 48-flat society called us along with four other quotes. She asked every vendor for GSTIN, sample WhatsApp before/after photos from previous jobs, and references from two other societies. Two vendors went silent immediately. One sent a screenshot of someone else's photos. One sent his GSTIN but it returned "Cancelled" on the GST portal. We were the fourth. She booked us for a sample first cleaning, audited the photos and invoice carefully, and only then converted to a quarterly AMC. Three years later, her society still has zero complaints and her residents have documented water-quality records the auditor accepts. The 90 minutes she spent verifying upfront saved every quarter since.
The kothi owner in Greater Kailash who didn't. A 4-bedroom kothi owner picked the top Google Maps result and booked over the phone for 500 rupees. On arrival the price became 1,200, with "deep clean" and "chlorine" added. Two days later the family started noticing a mild bleach smell in the water. The vendor's phone was switched off. He had used industrial bleach, not food-grade chlorine, and overdosed it. The household ended up paying us to re-do the cleaning properly — a 500-rupee booking that became 3,000 rupees plus a week of bottled water. The original vendor was never registered; the Maps listing turned out to be one of those spam pins. Total cost of skipping verification: about six times the cleaning fee, plus a fortnight of inconvenience.
The Karol Bagh restaurant manager with an FSSAI inspector visit. Three days before an FSSAI inspection, the manager realised the last tank cleaning was undocumented. The earlier vendor had cleaned but never issued an invoice or sent photos. The FSSAI inspector specifically asked for water-storage maintenance records as part of the licence renewal file. We did the cleaning, water-quality test, photographic record and GST invoice in a single visit; the manager added it to the inspection folder. The licence was renewed without delay. The cost of one missed invoice was almost the cost of a licence interruption. Now they're on a 6-month AMC with documentation built in.

Frequently asked questions
How do I find a reliable water tank cleaning service near me in Delhi?
Don't pick the first Google Maps result. Check three things in this order: a registered business with GSTIN on the invoice, before/after photos sent on WhatsApp, and a phone number that picks up after the job is done. If any of those three are missing, keep looking. A genuine local vendor with a 4.8 rating but no GSTIN is still a personal-account contractor, not a registered service.
How do I verify a vendor's GSTIN online?
Go to services.gst.gov.in, click Search Taxpayer, and enter the 15-digit GSTIN from their invoice. The portal returns the registered legal name, state, registration date and current status (Active / Cancelled / Suspended). The check takes 30 seconds. If the GSTIN is fake or Cancelled, that's a vendor you should not pay.
Are local vendors cheaper than KaamGenie?
Some are cheaper on the first call, but the real price arrives on the day of service. A 500-rupee quote often becomes 1,500 once chlorine, photos and a basic invoice are charged as extras. Our fixed price includes all of that, plus GST invoice and before/after photos on WhatsApp. Once you add hidden charges, the difference disappears.
Do you serve my zone in Delhi NCR?
We cover all six Delhi zones (Central, North, North-West, East, West, South) and selected areas in Gurgaon and Noida. The fastest check is to drop your area in the location pill at the top of the page or call 95603 66362. Inner Delhi usually means same-day or next-day slots; outer NCR areas need a 24-48 hour window.
Do you give a GST invoice?
Yes, on every booking. Our GSTIN is printed on the invoice, our legal entity name (KaamGenie Private Limited) matches it, and the invoice is emailed or WhatsApped the same day. This matters for RWA accounts, restaurant FSSAI files, office reimbursement and society audits. Cash-only vendors who refuse GST invoices usually aren't registered at all.
Will the crew show photo ID at the door?
Yes. Every KaamGenie crew member carries a laminated photo ID with name, employee code, photo and a verification number. We also send the crew member's name and photo on WhatsApp before they arrive, so you can match the face at the gate. Police verification is on file and can be shared on request for society or commercial bookings.
Can I get same-day service if I book today?
Often yes for inner Delhi if you call before 1 PM, subject to crew availability and traffic. We won't promise a same-day slot we can't keep. Booking 24-48 hours ahead almost always secures your preferred time. For RWA, restaurant or society jobs we recommend 3-5 days ahead so we can plan crew size and equipment.
What if the vendor cancels last minute?
With unregistered vendors it happens often — they take a bigger job and ghost you. With KaamGenie, if our scheduled crew is delayed we send a WhatsApp update with the new ETA and an alternative slot. We don't cancel confirmed bookings without offering a replacement, because we have multiple crews across Delhi NCR rather than depending on one part-time contractor.
Should I book an AMC or ad-hoc?
For a single kothi or flat that needs two cleanings a year, ad-hoc is fine. AMCs make sense when you need quarterly cleanings (societies, restaurants, FSSAI kitchens, schools) or documented water-quality records. Annual AMCs include a 15-25% discount versus per-visit pricing, a fixed schedule, and quarterly water reports. Breakeven is around three visits per year.
What is KaamGenie's service area? Gurgaon? Noida?
Primary coverage is all of Delhi. We also serve major Gurgaon sectors (DLF, Sushant Lok, Sohna Road, Golf Course Road) and Noida sectors (15A, 18, 50, 62, 75-78, Greater Noida West). Faridabad and Ghaziabad are case-by-case depending on the day's route. Drop your address on WhatsApp and we'll confirm coverage in two minutes.
