Shahdara is one of the oldest residential pockets of East Delhi — narrow lanes, plot houses on smaller plots, builder floors, and a mix of trading establishments. Tanks are typically 1,000-1,500L on plot houses, 3,000-5,000L on builder floors. DJB primary; some pockets supplement with private borewells in summer.

Shahdara is largely DJB-fed direct supply, which is gentler on tanks than the borewell water some outer pockets deal with. Total dissolved solids typically sit at 250-400 mg/L — below the BIS 500 mg/L acceptable threshold, so visible mineral scale is rare. The cleaning challenges here are different: bio-film build-up on the walls from slow accumulation, sediment from the inlet line (especially in summer when DJB sources get turbid), and dust deposits around tank lids during peak monsoon.
For Shahdara homes the standard 8-step cleaning is sufficient. Quarterly cadence works well — one pre-summer cleaning around March-April, one post-monsoon around October-November, and any household-specific extras based on usage. The post-monsoon visit is the most useful single cleaning of the year because four months of dust and humidity have accumulated on and around the tank lid.
If you’ve noticed a slight yellowish tint, an earthy smell, or that water just doesn’t feel as fresh as it used to, that’s usually bio-film building up on the tank walls. A 90-minute cleaning resets it, and the difference shows up in the first refill.

“Do you charge extra for our area?” No. Standard pricing across all of Delhi NCR. We don’t add a zone surcharge for Shahdara — same ₹699 starting price as anywhere else we serve.
“Can you come the same day?” Yes if you call before 10 AM and we have a slot. If we’re fully booked, we’ll offer next-day. Sundays included.
“What if I’m not home during the visit?” Many Shahdara customers book and leave a key with building security or a neighbour. We do the work, send WhatsApp photos before and after, collect payment digitally or on the next visit.
“How long before I can use the water?” Roughly 30 minutes after refill. We let the disinfectant residue clear in the post-rinse, so the first water out of the tap is safe to use the same evening for non-drinking purposes (washing, cleaning). For drinking, give it 2-3 hours and ideally run it through your RO/UV purifier as usual.
“Will you damage my tank?” No. Food-grade brushes don’t scratch plastic tanks. Jet-wash pressure is calibrated to clean, not erode. If we find any pre-existing damage (cracks, broken fittings), we photograph it and tell you on the call — we don’t cover it up.
