Brahampuri is one of the older Trans-Yamuna colonies, a tight weave of decades-old houses and rebuilt floors on narrow lanes close to the river, next door to Seelampur. Age and hardness together do it. “Our tank is decades old and has never been deep-cleaned; where do we start?” A one-time deep clean is the right first step. We drain it fully, dig out the compacted sediment, break off the layered scale and disinfect, which resets a tank that has run for years. We photograph the inside before we begin so you can see what had accumulated. After that, a yearly clean keeps it in good condition.
“Will an old plastic tank survive a thorough scrub?” Yes, if it is structurally sound. We use pads and controlled pressure on older plastic so the walls are cleaned without being damaged, and we check for cracks or seepage while we are inside. If the tank is genuinely failing we will tell you and suggest a cheap replacement, but most old Brahampuri tanks clean up well and keep serving.
“The borewell water is discoloured; does cleaning the tank help?” Cleaning removes the settled sediment and biofilm inside, which clears much of the cloudiness at the tap. If the borewell water arrives discoloured before it reaches the tank, the clean will not change the source, and we will say so and suggest a filter. But a sediment-heavy old tank always makes discoloured water worse, so clearing it helps regardless.
“How much for a deep clean of an old rooftop tank?” Price follows the tank size, not its age. A 500-litre tank is ₹699, 1,000 litres is ₹899, and larger 1,500 to 2,000-litre tanks run ₹1,299 to ₹1,499. A heavily silted old tank takes longer but the rate is unchanged, so leaving it a while costs no more to put right.
“Does being near the river add to the sediment?” Riverside air carries extra dust, which settles into an old tank through worn lid and vent gaps and adds to the borewell sediment on the base. We check the lid when we clean and point out gaps worth sealing. A snug lid plus a yearly clean keeps the accumulation from returning.
