Shalimar Bagh is one of north-west Delhi’s big planned addresses — a DDA colony of lettered double-block pockets running AA to BT around the district park, with a premium plotted section on the west side and the Fortis hospital anchoring the colony’s daily life. The water infrastructure splits by housing type: DDA pockets share RCC tanks on their stair towers, maintained — or not — by active block RWAs, while the plotted side’s rebuilt homes run basement sumps feeding rooftop tanks. Shared RCC tanks are a different job from plastic ones — porous walls that hold biofilm, corners that need proper hand scrubbing, and a committee that rightly wants documentation. An RCC tank on a DDA stair tower serves a whole block of flats, and its concrete surface ages differently from plastic — the walls are slightly porous, so once biofilm establishes it cannot be rinsed off, only scrubbed out.
