How Often Should You Clean Your Water Tank?

Society and RWA tank cleaning in Karam Pura — DDA stair-tower tanks pooled per wing, commercial-complex tanks for the traders, and the orange GI-riser rust film scrubbed out of all of them. From ₹1,500 per tank.
Karam Pura is a compact colony between Moti Nagar and Shivaji Park — DDA flats in wings that share small stair-tower tanks, a busy commercial complex, and plotted lanes popular with trading families whose rebuilds stack per-floor plastic tanks. DJB supply is decent, but the colony’s older GI risers shed rust with every fill, and it settles as the orange film residents recognise the moment we lift a tank lid.
Our Karam Pura work is organised around the wing and the building rather than the single tank. DDA residents pool a stairwell — the shared stair-tower tank plus participating flat tanks — into one visit with the shared cost split; complex shopkeepers book their common tanks through the traders’ body; and plotted buildings take the full-stack service, floor tanks and common tank together. Photos and a dated certificate close every tank. For a single tank, see water tank cleaning in Karam Pura; this page covers pooled and whole-building bookings.
The film is iron oxide off the colony’s galvanised risers — harmless-looking, but it stains laundry, tints the first bucket of the morning, and gives bacteria a rough surface to colonise. Because it arrives with the supply, cleaning one tank in a chain only helps briefly: the stair-tower tank re-seeds the flat tanks below it, and in plotted stacks the common tank re-seeds the floors. The only clean that holds is the one that does the whole chain in one visit.
That is also the honest answer on frequency. A whole-chain clean every six months keeps the film to a light dusting; leave it a couple of years and it bonds into a layer that needs serious scrubbing. Wings that pool the booking get it cheaper per tank than any flat could alone, and the certificate set gives the wing a shared record — useful in DDA blocks where residents rotate and nobody remembers what was done before they arrived. For riser replacement questions we tell you plainly: that is a plumber’s job, and we will say so rather than sell you extra cleans.
No travel charge anywhere in Karam Pura. The final price is confirmed on the call before we come — it depends only on tank size and access.

“How does a stairwell pooling work in the DDA flats?” One resident collects agreement from the flats on the stair, we survey the stair-tower tank and note which flat tanks are joining, then clean the lot in one visit. The shared tank’s cost divides among participants; each flat pays only for its own tank beyond that. Certificates go to every participant.
“Is the orange rust film dangerous or just ugly?” Mostly ugly, but not harmless: the rough oxide layer shelters bacteria and keeps your water faintly metallic. Removing it properly takes jetting plus hand scrubbing — a rinse leaves the bonded layer behind. We also photograph the inlet side so you can see how much is arriving with each fill.
“Can shops in the commercial complex book their shared tanks?” Yes. The complex’s common tanks serve many establishments, so we take the booking through the traders’ association or any authorised shopkeeper, work early before opening hours, and issue a certificate the association can display. From ₹1,500 per tank, with multi-tank complex bookings priced together.
“How long is a full plotted building out of water?” Half a day at most. We drain after the morning DJB fill, do all floor tanks plus the common tank in sequence, and the system refills on the next fill window. Book before 10 AM on 95603 66362 and single-building jobs can often start the same day.
“Do you check anything besides the tanks themselves?” On every visit we check lids and seals, note the inlet water’s condition, and flag anything structural — a cracked cover, a corroded riser joint — in the report. We do not do plumbing repairs, so the flag comes with no sales pitch attached; it is simply on record for your plumber.
