Why swimming pools in Delhi NCR go bad so fast

A swimming pool is a body of still, warm water sitting in the open. In the Delhi NCR climate that is exactly the environment algae and bacteria want. Left alone for even a week in summer, a clear pool can cloud over, and in two weeks it can turn a deep green. Understanding what attacks a pool here is the first step to keeping one clean.

Algae and green water. Algae spores are always present in the air and the water. They bloom the moment the chemical balance drops, the filter runs too little, or the sun heats the water for a few unbroken days. A pool that was fine on Friday can be visibly green by the next weekend. Once algae takes hold it clings to the floor, the walls, the corners, and the tile line, and it will not clear on its own.

Monsoon debris and runoff. The rains bring leaves, dust, insects, and organic matter straight into the pool, and rain runoff carries in whatever is on the surrounding deck. Rainwater also dilutes the chemicals and shifts the pH, so the water loses its ability to hold off algae right when the debris load is highest. This is why so many Delhi NCR pools go green during and just after the monsoon.

High-TDS Delhi water. A lot of the water topping up pools across the region is hard and high in dissolved solids. Over time that mineral load leaves scale along the tile line, dulls the plaster and finish, and clogs the filter media so filtration weakens. Weak filtration means the water stays cloudy and the pool needs more chemicals to stay clear, which then leaves more scale. It is a cycle that only a proper clean and filter service breaks.

Under-filtration and neglect. Many home and society pools simply do not run their pump and filter long enough, especially when nobody is swimming. Still water plus a dirty filter is the fastest route to a cloudy or green pool. A pool does not need to be used to go bad, it only needs to be left.

The three types of pool cleaning we do

Not every pool needs the same job. Matching the right service to the pool is what keeps the cost fair and the result good. We do three clearly different types of cleaning.

1. Regular cleaning. This is the routine clean for a pool that is already in reasonable condition and you want to keep it that way. The pool is not drained. We skim the surface, brush the walls and floor, vacuum the settled dirt, backwash or clean the filter, and balance the chemicals so the water is safe and clear. A regular clean is the cheapest and most common visit, and for a pool in steady use it is what you book again whenever the water needs it. Regular cleaning starts at ₹1,999 for a small pool.

2. One-time deep cleaning. This is the drained, hands-and-knees version. We empty the pool, scrub the floor and walls, work on the tile line and any stubborn stains or scale, and clean the filter properly before refilling. A deep clean is the right choice at the start of a season, after a long period of no use, or when regular cleaning is no longer enough to make the surfaces look right. One-time deep cleaning starts at ₹5,999 for a small pool. It is a one-off job, not a recurring contract.

3. Green-to-clean algae recovery. This is for a pool that has already gone green. Recovery is more than a clean: we shock the water, brush and break down the algae layer, run the filtration hard to pull out the dead algae, and then rebalance the chemistry so the water turns and holds clear. Badly neglected pools sometimes need more than one visit and occasionally a partial or full drain. Green-to-clean starts at ₹7,999 or is quoted after a quick inspection so the price fits the actual state of the pool.

What a KaamGenie pool cleaning visit includes

The exact steps depend on which service you book, but a standard regular cleaning visit covers the following:

  1. Surface skim. We net and skim floating leaves, insects, dust, and debris off the water surface before anything else, so none of it sinks and settles while we work.
  2. Brushing walls and floor. The walls, floor, steps, and corners are brushed to lift the film and early algae that always starts in the spots water moves the least.
  3. Vacuuming. Settled dirt and the brushed-loose material are vacuumed off the floor so the pool is physically clean, not just chemically treated.
  4. Filter backwash or clean. We backwash or clean the filter so it can actually do its job. A blocked filter is the single most common reason a pool stays cloudy after a clean.
  5. Chemical balancing. We test and correct the water: chlorine or sanitiser level, pH, and overall balance, so the water is clear, safe to swim in, and able to hold off the next algae bloom.

For a one-time deep clean, add draining, a full scrub of the floor and walls, tile-line and stain work, and a thorough filter service before refilling. For green-to-clean, add shock dosing, heavy filtration, and dead-algae removal until the water turns. On every visit the crew tells you honestly what your pool needs so you are never paying for a step it does not require.

How often should you clean a pool?

There is no single answer, because it depends on how much the pool is used and the time of year. Through a Delhi NCR summer, a pool in regular use stays clear best with a cleaning every one to two weeks. In the monsoon the debris and rain runoff make water go cloudy or green faster, so a seasonal deep clean before and after the rains earns its cost. In winter, when a pool is used less, it still needs the odd clean to stop still water from turning.

KaamGenie does swimming pool cleaning only, so we do not sell a fixed maintenance contract. Instead you book a cleaning whenever the pool needs one, and if you would like a repeating rhythm we will suggest sensible timing for your usage on the call. If you specifically want an ongoing maintenance arrangement or an annual contract, tell us and we will look at it and quote it on a visit rather than over the phone.

We clean pools across all of Delhi NCR

Swimming pool cleaning is available across the entire Delhi NCR region. Wherever your pool is, we can send a trained crew for a regular clean, a one-time deep clean, or a green-to-clean recovery.

We clean private home pools, farmhouse pools, society and clubhouse pools, and hotel and commercial pools. For societies, hotels, and commercial pools we begin with a free site inspection and give a written quote, because those pools vary too much to price sensibly over the phone. Tell us your location and pool size and we will confirm availability and a price.

Frequently asked questions

How much does swimming pool cleaning cost in Delhi NCR?

Regular cleaning starts at ₹1,999 for a small pool up to 15,000 litres, ₹2,999 for a medium pool of 15,000 to 40,000 litres, and ₹4,499 or a quote for large pools above 40,000 litres. A one-time deep clean where the pool is drained and scrubbed starts at ₹5,999 for a small pool and ₹8,999 for a medium pool. Green-to-clean algae recovery starts at ₹7,999 or is quoted after inspection. All figures are before 18 percent GST and confirmed on the call once we understand your pool size and condition.

How often should a swimming pool be cleaned?

It depends on how heavily the pool is used and the season. In Delhi NCR summers, a pool in regular use benefits from a cleaning every one to two weeks to keep the water clear and balanced. Through the monsoon, debris and rain runoff make pools go cloudy or green faster, so a seasonal deep clean before and after the rains helps a lot. KaamGenie does swimming pool cleaning only, so rather than a fixed contract you simply book a cleaning whenever the pool needs it. If you want a repeating schedule, tell us on the call and we will suggest sensible timing for your usage.

Do you drain the pool to clean it?

Not for a regular cleaning. Regular cleaning is done with the water in the pool: we skim the surface, brush the walls and floor, vacuum settled dirt, backwash or clean the filter, and balance the chemicals. Draining is only needed for a one-time deep clean, where we empty the pool, scrub the floor and walls, clean the tile line and stubborn stains, and service the filter before refilling. We will tell you honestly on the call which one your pool needs so you are not paying for a drain you do not require.

Can you fix a green pool full of algae?

Yes. A green or heavily neglected pool is our green-to-clean service. We shock the water, brush and break down the algae layer, run the filtration hard, remove the dead algae, then rebalance the chemistry so the water turns clear and stays clear. Depending on how far gone the pool is, this can take more than one visit and sometimes a partial or full drain. Green-to-clean starts at ₹7,999 or is quoted after a quick inspection so the price matches the actual condition of the pool.

Which areas of Delhi NCR do you cover for pool cleaning?

We clean pools across the whole of Delhi NCR: Gurgaon, South Delhi and the rest of Delhi, Noida and Greater Noida, Faridabad, and Ghaziabad. This includes private home pools, farmhouse pools, society and clubhouse pools, and hotel and commercial pools. For society, hotel, and commercial pools we start with a free site inspection and then give a written quote. Call or WhatsApp us with your location and pool size and we will confirm availability and a price.
