Nanakpura — the pocket beside South Moti Bagh around the Gurudwara Nanakpura complex, where shared stair-tower tanks in old quarters carry decades of mineral layering. We scrub them back to clean concrete. Starting ₹699.
Nanakpura sits quietly off the Ring Road beside South Moti Bagh, anchored by the Gurudwara Nanakpura complex and made up of government quarters and CGHS-era blocks that predate most of what surrounds them. The water setup is uniform: NDMC supply, dependable as anywhere in New Delhi, feeding shared tanks on the stair towers that serve several quarters each. Age is the defining condition. These blocks have been storing water in the same RCC vessels for generations, and the tank interiors show it — mineral deposits layered like tree rings, bonded hard to walls and floors that have never met anything stronger than a rinse.
Layered mineral deposit isn’t just cosmetic. The rough, crusted surface it creates is exactly the texture biofilm anchors to, and it narrows outlets and jams float valves as flakes break loose. Chlorine dosing — the usual shortcut — disinfects the water above the crust without touching the crust itself. Nanakpura’s tanks need mechanical restoration: scrubbing and pressure-washing that takes the interior back to sound concrete, after which ordinary twice-yearly cleaning keeps it that way.
For a standard 1000-litre overhead tank, the whole job takes about 90 minutes from doorbell to pack-up. Underground sumps take longer — usually 2 to 2.5 hours depending on sludge. You don’t need to provide anything: we bring our own water for the rinse, vacuums, jet pumps, food-grade disinfectant and gloves, and send before/after photos on WhatsApp.
The first clean of a long-neglected Nanakpura tank is restoration work. We drain the tank, remove the sludge by hand, then work the walls and floor with mechanical scrubbing to break the bonded mineral layers — often several distinct strata from different eras of the block’s life — before pressure-rinsing everything out and disinfecting with food-grade agents. Shared stair-tower tanks price at ₹899 for the common 501–1,000L size, pooled among the quarters they serve. The transformation photographs dramatically, and once restored, the tank only needs standard twice-yearly maintenance at the same price to stay that way.
Like its government-colony neighbours, Nanakpura’s official maintenance reaches structures faster than tank interiors, so the quarters sharing each stair tower organise privately — one resident books, shares are pooled, and we need only tower access and a morning. The blocks around the Gurudwara complex sometimes coordinate cleans across several towers at once, which we encourage: batching neighbouring tanks into one visit day trims the effort for everyone and puts the whole pocket on the same schedule. Every quarter sharing a cleaned tank receives the dated before-and-after photos on WhatsApp, and we log the block so the reminder for the next round comes from us, not from bad-tasting water.
“Our tank hasn’t been properly cleaned in living memory. Is it too far gone?” Almost certainly not — heavily layered RCC tanks are our standard Nanakpura job. Mechanical scrubbing takes even decades of mineral crust back to sound concrete in one visit. If we ever find genuine structural damage underneath, we photograph it and tell you before proceeding.
“Several quarters share our stair-tower tank. How does booking work?” One resident calls, the quarters pool the ₹899, and we handle the rest in a single visit — typically two to three hours for a heavily layered first clean, 90 minutes for maintenance rounds after. Photos go to everyone sharing the tank.
“Can neighbouring blocks combine their cleans into one visit?” Yes, and Nanakpura blocks often do — we clean several stair-tower tanks in one scheduled day, which is easier on access coordination and puts adjacent blocks on the same twice-yearly cycle. Call before 10 AM and we can usually start same-day.
