Underground Sump Cleaning: Cost & Safety

Kidwai Nagar — NBCC’s completed East Kidwai high-rise township on one side, old CPWD blocks in West Kidwai on the other. We service both: tower sump-and-tank programmes with facility management, and pooled stairwell cleans. Starting ₹699.
Kidwai Nagar is the before-and-after photo of Delhi’s government-housing redevelopment, standing on both sides of the same road. East Kidwai Nagar is the finished NBCC showcase — a full high-rise township of government flats with basement sumps, pump rooms, terrace tank banks and organised facility management running the estate. West Kidwai Nagar still lives in the old CPWD world: low-rise blocks, shared RCC tanks on the stair towers, GI plumbing of pension age. The water systems could not be more different, and neither could the way cleaning gets arranged — work orders and FM coordination on one side, a stairwell WhatsApp group and pooled cash on the other.
East Kidwai’s towers, several years into occupation, are now hitting the age where commissioning-era cleanliness has worn off: sumps have accumulated their first real silt load and terrace tank banks their first mineral film, so the township is entering its scheduled-maintenance era. West Kidwai’s blocks have the opposite profile — decades of accumulation, cleaned only when the families organise it. We hold repeat schedules on both sides of the road.
For a standard 1000-litre overhead tank, the whole job takes about 90 minutes from doorbell to pack-up. Underground sumps take longer — usually 2 to 2.5 hours depending on sludge. You don’t need to provide anything: we bring our own water for the rinse, vacuums, jet pumps, food-grade disinfectant and gloves, and send before/after photos on WhatsApp.
An East Kidwai tower’s water chain is society-scale infrastructure: a basement sump feeding pump sets that lift to terrace tank banks serving hundreds of flats. Our tower programme runs with the facility-management team — sumps at ₹1,499, terrace tanks at ₹1,500 per society-scale unit — sequenced zone by zone so no wing loses supply, with float and valve checks at each stage and a documented photo report for the FM file. Towers commissioned in the township’s first phases are due their first serious de-silting now; the difference between towers on a schedule and towers without one is already visible in the sumps.
Across the road, West Kidwai Nagar’s CPWD blocks need the traditional government-colony service: the stair-tower’s shared RCC tank drained, de-sludged by hand, scrubbed mechanically to lift decades of mineral layering off the concrete, pressure-rinsed and disinfected — ₹899 for the usual shared size, pooled across the block’s quarters. The old GI risers here shed rust the same way Laxmibai Nagar’s do next door, so we photograph inlet corrosion for the block’s maintenance file as standard. Families watching East Kidwai’s towers rise across the road often ask if their block is next; until it is, the tank still needs its twice-yearly clean.
“We live in an East Kidwai tower. Should we book directly or through facility management?” Through FM for the building systems — sump, pump room and terrace banks are common infrastructure we service on FM work orders at ₹1,499–1,500 per unit. Book us directly only for anything private to your flat, or nudge your FM if no cleaning cycle exists yet.
“How is West Kidwai different from the towers for cleaning purposes?” Entirely. West Kidwai’s blocks have one shared RCC tank per stair tower, arranged by the families themselves — pool the ₹899, give us roof access, done in one visit with photos to the group. No FM, no work orders, just the stairwell organising itself.
“Do the newer towers really need cleaning already?” Yes — several phases are past the five-year mark, which is when the first meaningful sump silt and terrace-tank film appear. Catching it on a schedule now is far cheaper than the first emergency de-silting later; ask your FM where your tower’s cycle stands.
