Pest Control in Central Delhi

Central Delhi is a small, dense district that packs several very different pest realities into a few square kilometres. On one side sit the low-rise Lutyens bungalows and their watered gardens; on the other, some of the busiest markets and F&B pockets in the city; between them, block after block of old CPWD government quarters. Each of these calls for a different treatment, and we run crews across all of them from Khan Market and Golf Links through to the Lodhi Road belt.

The bungalow zone — Golf Links, Jor Bagh, Sundar Nagar, Prithviraj Road and Aurangzeb Road — is our termite belt. Old low-rise houses set in large watered lawns are exactly what subterranean termite likes, and it travels up from the soil into skirting, door frames, wooden flooring and antique furniture. The markets are the opposite kind of job: Khan Market, Meherchand Market, Sarojini Nagar and INA are wall-to-wall shops, basement kitchens and storerooms where cockroaches and rodents move between units through shared service lanes and drains.

And then there are the government quarters. Lodhi Colony, Sarojini Nagar, Kaka Nagar, Bapa Nagar and Aliganj are dense CPWD blocks that share plumbing shafts, service ducts and settled woodwork, so cockroaches move flat to flat and termite works through old frames and wardrobes. Wrapped around all of it is the greenery of Lodhi Garden and the roundabout lawns, which push mosquitoes into the homes and offices nearby through the monsoon. Central Delhi’s markets are compact and food-heavy, which is why cockroaches and rodents are the most common job here. Khan Market runs its restaurants, cafes and shops off cramped basement kitchens and storerooms, and the shared service lane behind the rows lets cockroaches and rats move from one unit to the next no matter how clean a single shop keeps its own space. That is why single-shop treatment rarely holds for long and a coordinated market schedule works far better.

Sarojini Nagar and INA are busier and more open, with market rodents feeding off the fruit, vegetable and street-food stalls and nesting in the drains and back stores. The Sundar Nagar antique and handicraft shops have their own problem: paper, textiles, packing material and old wooden pieces give rodents cover and nesting material, and a rat in a storeroom can do real damage to stock. We run cockroach gel-bait treatment from ₹599 and rodent control with baiting, trapping and entry-point proofing from ₹999, and for shops we usually put it on an FSSAI-ready AMC with after-hours visits so trading is never disturbed.

Central Delhi has one of the highest concentrations of restaurants and cafes in the city, from the Khan Market and Meherchand Market rows to the Pandara Road eateries and the hotel and club kitchens around Lodhi Road. A commercial kitchen has to keep pests out to stay on the right side of an FSSAI audit, and a cockroach or rodent sighting in a busy restaurant is a reputation problem as much as a hygiene one. Basement kitchens and shared storerooms make it harder still.
