DDA flat in Shivalik, kothi in Geetanjali Enclave, builder floor near Khirki — Malviya Nagar’s varied housing means varied tank problems. We handle them all. Starting ₹600.
Malviya Nagar is mostly older DDA flats and builder floors that came up in the 80s and 90s. The overhead tanks on these are often original plastic tanks from 30+ years ago. They have a tendency to grow algae if any sunlight gets in, and a lot of these tanks have UV-cracked lids that let in light. By the time most owners notice, the inside is properly green.
The kothis around Geetanjali Enclave and Pamposh Enclave have both underground sumps and overhead tanks. We do a full cleaning of both in one visit so you don’t lose water service for a full day.
Most plastic tanks have a 15-20 year usable life if cared for, but plenty in Malviya Nagar are pushing 30 years. Signs we look for when we open the lid: internal wall discolouration (a yellow-brown tint instead of clean off-white), brittle plastic (the wall flexes less and starts cracking near fittings), and UV degradation on the lid itself (cracks, chips, sun-bleached areas). A tank with all three signs is past its retirement age and any cleaning is a temporary fix.
If yours is in this category, we’ll be honest with you on the day — we’ll clean it, but recommend replacement. A new 1000-litre plastic tank is around ₹6,000-8,000 plus fitting. We can coordinate the replacement with our regular vendor or you can buy and we install. Either way it’s a one-day job.
Once a tank has visible green or brown streaks on the inside walls, it’s past basic cleaning territory. Algae embeds into the textured plastic surface and won’t come off with a brush alone. Our process for these:
The job runs ₹900-1,200 instead of standard ₹750 because of the extra time. If the algae is recurring — meaning we cleaned 6 months ago and it’s back — the lid is the source. Replace the lid for ₹500-700 and the problem usually stops.
"Will the tank crack if you scrub hard?" No, our brushes are food-grade soft-bristle plastic. We never use metal scrapers on plastic tanks. The wall flex is normal during scrubbing.
"Can you clean my AC drain water tank too?" No — AC condensate tanks are different (separate plumbing, different contamination, often plastic basins on balconies). We focus on potable water tanks.
"My building has 8 flats and one 2,000L tank. Pricing?" About ₹1,500-1,800 for the full tank, then split among the 8 flats — works out to ₹190-225 per flat. Cheapest per-flat cost in any cleaning scenario.
