CPWD government quarter in Sec 4, society apartment in Sec 10, builder floor near Munirka border — we work across all 13 RK Puram sectors. Starting ₹600 for individual tanks; quoted on-site for shared block tanks.
RK Puram is one of the largest government colonies in Delhi — 13 sectors, mostly built by CPWD between 1965 and 1985 to house central government employees. The buildings here haven’t changed much in 40 years, which means the water tank setup hasn’t either.
About 70% of RK Puram blocks have a single shared rooftop tank serving the whole building (typically 16-24 flats per block, 3000-5000 litre tank). The other 30% are newer or renovated blocks where each flat has its own tank on the rooftop or back balcony. Knowing which kind you have changes everything — from how you book to who has to approve it.
Here’s the most common situation we walk into in RK Puram: one resident in a block is fed up with cloudy water, calls us, wants to book. We arrive and discover the tank is shared with 15 other flats, none of whom have agreed to anything.
What we’ve learned to do in advance: at booking time, we ask whether it’s individual or shared. If shared, we ask if the building has a maintenance contact or RWA secretary, and we send them a written quote on letterhead. The whole approval process usually takes 2-4 days but only needs to happen once. After that, the same block can rebook 3 or 4 times a year without anyone having to argue about it again.
Individual flat tanks: about 90 minutes, same as anywhere else. Shared block tanks: 2.5 hours for the first-ever deep cleaning (these usually have 4-8 inches of sediment), then 90 minutes for regular maintenance visits after that.
One RK Puram-specific thing: water supply timing matters. Some blocks have supply only between 6-9 AM and 5-8 PM. We need running water for the post-cleaning rinse, so we either schedule around your supply window or bring our own water for bigger jobs. Let us know at booking time.
“We live in an RK Puram government quarter. Do we need CPWD permission to clean our tank?” Depends on whether the block has per-flat tanks or a single shared tank. Per-flat tanks (you can see one tank per balcony at the back) — no permission, just book. Shared block tank (single large tank on the roof feeding the whole block) — yes, you need CPWD or RWA sign-off. We work with both kinds, just tell us at booking which one you have.
“Our RK Puram block has 16 flats sharing one rooftop tank that’s never been opened. How does that work?” Shared block tanks are usually 3000-5000 litres and the first-ever cleaning takes about 2.5 hours. The RWA usually approves the cleaning once the maintenance committee meets — we can give you a written quote on letterhead to share with them. Cost typically splits to ₹100-150 per flat. We’ll send before-after photos to the RWA contact.
“Some RK Puram sectors have water supply issues — Sector 1, 2, 12. Does that affect tank cleaning?” Yes, mildly. We need running water for the post-cleaning rinse. For RK Puram sectors with irregular supply, we either schedule the visit during a known water-supply window or we bring our own water tanker for big jobs. Let us know your supply pattern at booking time and we’ll work around it.
