How Long Does Tank Cleaning Take?

That orange film in the bottom of a Karam Pura tank is not mud — it is rust off the colony’s old GI risers, packed into the moulded ribs of the plastic floor where a hosepipe cannot reach. KaamGenie scrubs it out rib by rib. From ₹699.
Karam Pura, the compact colony between Moti Nagar and Shivaji Park, mixes DDA flats sharing small stair-tower tanks, a commercial complex, and plotted lanes where trading families have rebuilt into per-floor plastic tank stacks. DJB supply here is decent; the trouble starts inside the building. The colony’s older galvanised-iron risers shed rust with every fill, and it settles as a fine orange film across tank floors — where the stiffening ribs moulded into a plastic tank’s base trap it in grooves an ordinary rinse never reaches.
KaamGenie cleans Sintex and plastic tanks across Karam Pura — drained, the orange sediment wet-vacuumed out, the ribbed floor and walls jet-washed at plastic-safe pressure and hand-scrubbed groove by groove with soft pads, then a food-grade disinfectant rinse, finished with photos and a dated certificate. For DDA stair-tower tanks, sumps or full buildings, see our main water tank cleaning in Karam Pura page; this page covers the plastic tanks specifically.
Galvanised iron was the standard pipe when Karam Pura’s buildings went up, and decades later the zinc lining inside those risers is gone. Every fill now carries microscopic rust that settles out in the calm of the tank — and a moulded plastic floor is not flat. Its ribs create grooves where the orange film packs in, staining the translucent base and tinting the first bucket drawn each morning. Hosing the tank out moves the loose layer and leaves the grooves full.
The DDA wings run their own version of the problem: small stair-tower tanks shared across several flats, filled through the same ageing risers and cycling many times a day, so the rust never gets a quiet hour to settle and stay put. Either way the remedy is mechanical rather than chemical — a mineral film does not care about disinfectant. The grooves need hand-scrubbing, the loosened sediment needs wet-vacuuming out, and after that an annual cycle usually holds unless the building renews its risers.
No travel charge anywhere in Karam Pura. The final price is confirmed on the call before we come — it depends only on tank size and access.

“Our morning water runs slightly orange. Is the tank to blame?” Partly. The rust originates in the building’s old GI riser pipes, but it accumulates in the tank — concentrated in the floor ribs — and the first draw of the day pulls from that settled layer. Cleaning removes the accumulation and gives you clear water again; renewing the risers is the permanent fix, and we will say so honestly.
“What does the clean cost in Karam Pura?” ₹699 for a plastic tank up to 500 litres, ₹899 for 501-1,000 litres — including the groove-by-groove scrub of the ribbed floor, wet-vacuum, plastic-safe jet wash, food-grade disinfectant rinse and a dated certificate with before-and-after photos. Most DDA stair-tower tanks fall in the ₹699 band.
“Can you do the shared stair-tower tank in our DDA block?” Yes. We fix a mid-morning time with the flats that share it, drain once, clean thoroughly and have it refilling within the hour. Split across the sharing households the cost per flat is small, and every flat can keep a copy of the certificate for its own records.
“Will scrubbing the ribs harm the floor?” No. Soft pads and a plastic-set jet pressure work the grooves loose without grinding at them. A wire brush would scratch the ribs and hand the next rust layer a rougher surface to pack into — which is why wire never touches a plastic tank on our jobs.
“How soon can you reach us?” Call 95603 66362 before 10 AM and same-day is usually on — Karam Pura sits directly on our route between Moti Nagar and Shivaji Park. Otherwise we take the next morning and time the drain so your tank refills on that day’s DJB supply.
