Gurgaon is really several different cities stacked on top of each other, and each one has its own pest reality. There are the glass-and-steel high-rise condominiums along Golf Course Road and Sohna Road, the older independent kothis and low-rise condos of DLF, South City and Sushant Lok, the settled HUDA sectors that make up old Gurgaon, and the fast-building New Gurgaon and Dwarka Expressway sectors that are still half construction site. The pattern that ties most of Gurgaon together is vertical living. The premium condominiums and independent kothis of DLF, South City, Sushant Lok and the older sectors are full of the woodwork that subterranean termite feeds on: modular kitchens, floor-to-ceiling wardrobes, wooden flooring, panelling and heavy teak door and window frames.
