East of Kailash sits between Greater Kailash and Kalkaji, with a character that’s a bit of both. Mostly mid-sized plotted houses (150-250 sq yards), built between the 70s and 90s, almost all with underground sumps plus rooftop overhead tanks. Water is mostly DJB pipeline with borewell backup, and the lanes are wide enough for our vans to reach most addresses directly.
What we see most: families that have lived here 20-30 years, sumps that were cleaned once in the 90s, overhead tanks that get attention every few years when somebody remembers. The cleaning interval that actually works for East of Kailash: every 6 months for the overhead tank, every 12-18 months for the sump.
Almost every East of Kailash kothi has the same water setup: underground sump under the front yard or driveway (collects DJB + borewell water), motor pump that lifts it up to the rooftop plastic tank, taps fed from the overhead. The two-tank arrangement is standard but most residents only ever think about the overhead because that’s where the tap-water comes from.
The catch: sediment from the sump gets pumped up to the overhead every time the motor runs. So cleaning just the overhead is a partial fix — within 3 months you’re back to where you started. The setup that actually works in East of Kailash bungalows is combined cleaning, every 6 months for the overhead, every 12-18 months for the sump. Combined cleaning visit: ₹2000-2500, takes 2.5 hours.
Standard East of Kailash tank: about 90 minutes door-to-door for an overhead tank, 2-3 hours for a combined sump + overhead. We bring everything — vacuums, jet pumps, food-grade chlorine disinfectant, scrubbing brushes, rinse water. After cleaning, before-and-after WhatsApp photos and a GST invoice.
"Block A has very large old kothis. Are the sumps bigger than standard?" Yes, the oldest East of Kailash bungalows have substantially larger underground sumps (often 3000-5000 litres versus the standard 2000) because they were built when the plots were bigger and water supply was less reliable. Cleaning a 5000L sump runs ₹2500-3500 and takes 3-3.5 hours.
"Our motor pumps water from sump to overhead automatically. Do you need it turned off during cleaning?" Yes, we’ll ask you to turn off the motor before we start so the pumps aren’t cycling water in or out while we’re draining. Family routine isn’t disrupted because we work during low-water-use windows (usually 11 AM-2 PM in most East of Kailash homes). Motor goes back on as soon as the cleaning is done.
"We’re on the GK-1 boundary — do you cover us with East of Kailash pricing or GK pricing?" Same pricing across both — no difference. ₹600 for overhead, ₹1500-2500 for sump. We work both areas the same day from the same crew, so it doesn’t matter which one you book under.
